Abstract

The rule of law is a cornerstone of justice and societal stability. It ensures that behaviour is governed by laws rather than the arbitrary decisions of individuals. It guarantees that legal frameworks are transparent, consistent and impartial, thereby protecting individuals from abuses of power and safeguarding their fundamental rights. Based on the principles of equality and fairness, the rule of law plays a vital part in maintaining the balance of power between citizens and the state. However, achieving true adherence to the rule of law is complex and fraught with challenges. In many regions, legal systems are plagued by corruption, inefficient enforcement and disparities in access to justice. Additionally, global shifts such as the growth of intergovernmental relations and the rise of international law introduce new layers of complexity. Although the rule of law is vital for social order and human rights, its implementation must continually be evaluated and reinforced to address these evolving challenges and ensure its fundamental role in modern societies.
